Sometimes the right words are uttered at the right time; and, as a result, an iconic phrase is born. “Stuck on stupid” is one of them. First spoken during Katrina, it now reappears whenever anyone or anything is, well, stuck on stupid.
Those words were first spoken by General Russell Honore. He became our hero.
That was then; this is now. The country has become much more divided than it was in 2005. I’m sure if the General were to be in the same situation and say the same thing today, Democrats and Republicans would twist his words to their own political advantage, ignoring the advice he was giving to control a crisis.
