In the 3-3-1 Arizona Cardinals, the Saints play host to a team that started slow behind it’s rookie #1-overall pick quarterback, but that has now won three straight.
The fact that those three wins came against some of the worst the NFL has to offer – 0-7 Cincinnati, 1-6 Atlanta, the 2-5 New York Giants – matters not, according to the voice of the Saints Zach Strief.
Strief says momentum like that is a powerful tool on a football team.
“I think this is a dangerous football team right now,” Strief said. “And I don’t think they’re dangerous because they’re better or even like they have any business playing with the Saints. I think the Saints are a much better football team. But confidence is a weird thing in the National Football League.”
Saints Radio Network color analyst Deuce McAllister echoed that sentiment, saying the Black and Gold can’t play around in this one.
“The one thing the Saints cannot do,” McAllister said. “You can’t have two to three turnovers, and you can’t allow this team to hang around and… let them get some confidence. If this team gets some confidence, and the Saints have two turnovers, three turnovers, you’re gonna find yourself in a dogfight. You might even find yourself with a loss.”
The Saints host the Cardinals Sunday at noon on WWL. Our coverage starts that morning at 8. You can hear the full audio of Strief and McAllister breaking down the matchup from Friday afternoon’s edition of The Fans And The Pros by clicking the podcast link.
