LOS ANGELES -- A judge on Wednesday denied a request from Britney Spears to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as her sole conservator, according to documents filed by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
"The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” the court documents state.
Today’s paperwork was solely intended for the judge to approve Bessemer Trust as the co-conservator -- and confirm the judge’s decision not to remove the pop star's dad.
The decision came just a week after Spears, 39, gave an emotional public testimony begging the court to remove her father’s control.
Spears told the court her father “should be in jail” for how he’s treated her throughout the 13-year conservatorship, alleging he would not allow her to remove a birth control device to prevent her from having more children.
"I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive," said said in court.
A court-appointed trustee has had control over Spears’ personal decisions since 2019, but her father still controls her finances, business deals, and real estate.
Jamie Spears said when he was conservator of Britney’s ‘person,’ he did everything he could to support her, including consenting to her 2012 marriage.
