Rosa Lee Hawkins, one of the original trio of singers to form the New Orleans staple the Dixie Cups, has died, according to the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate. Hawkins older sister, fellow Dixie Cup Barbara Hawkins, confirmed the death to reporter Keith Spera.

The Dixie Cups hit No. 1 with their 1964 single "Chapel of Love." They also had a hit with "Iko Iko," a song that tells the tale of two Mardi Gras Indian tribes crossing paths.

The trio remained favorites for decades in New Orleans-area clubs and at local festivals.

Rosa Lee Hawkins was 76.
