A New Orleans hip-hop classic has gotten a makeover in service of getting the word out on Covid vaccinations.

New Orleans native Juvenile and producer Mannie Fresh have turned their iconic 1999 single “Back That Thang Up” into “Vax That Thang Up.”

The track was created in conjunction with dating app BLK to encourage young people to get vaccinated before using the app to meet up.

No Limit rapper Mia X also appears on the track in the spot originally inhabited by Lil Wayne.

In a statement sent to Rolling Stone by Juvenile, the rapper says he wanted to “do something positive for my people.”

The statement continues, “We don’t know what we’re facing right now but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”
