Southern University launches locally-grown CBD oil product

People in Louisiana have a new locally-grown, hemp-derived CBD oil to choose from.
The Southern University Ag Center and Ilera Holistic Healthcare have released ALAFIA to licensed pharmacies throughout the state. Officials with Southern University and Ilera Holistic launched ALAFIA today at H&W Drug Store Dispensary in New Orleans.
“This is an Exciting time for healthcare and business here in the state of Louisiana, and Southern University is honored to be a part of it all,” said Ray L. Belton, president of the Southern University System. “This CBD venture with Ilera encompasses all of that. We look forward to advancing this vision and serving as a model for other universities.”
The new product can be legally purchased over-the-counter at eight locations across Louisiana. The product is lab test and regulated by the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
“Since July, ATC has licensed almost 1,500 retailers and wholesalers in the state and until recently these wholesalers had to go out of state to purchase their products,” said LATC Commissioner Juana Marine-Lombard. “So everything that has been on the shelves in Louisiana for the last couple of weeks have come from Colorado or California so I as a commissioner am so excited to have two universities producing.”
Two formulas of ALAFIA will be available, Isolate CBD in both 500mg ($40) and 1000mg ($80) also, Full Spectrum CBD 500mg ($40) and 1000mg ($80). Additional CBD products will released soon.
