Pro Football Hall of Famer and New Orleans native Marshall Faulk is the Southern University Jaguars' new head coach. Faulk says the Jaguars will give it their all each week.

“We are going to deliver a team that plays with heart, that plays with passion, and that goes out there and represents this community the way that you want to be represented,” Faulk said.

Faulk also says it’s important for him to not only be a great football coach for his players at Southern, but also to be a great coach for them in life.

“What we plan to do is make sure that they excel off the field, as well as on the field. Because a lot of times the on the field purpose, it happens, but then when they get off the field it doesn’t. We’re going to make sure that they have the tools to succeed in life as well as in football,” Faulk explained.

Faulk faces a tall task, as the Jaguars won just two games this past season. He says the program will need financial help in order to be successful and urged Jaguar nation to show up for the players when it matters most.

“More than money, I need your time. I need you sitting there. I need you there with us. The kids need to see you. They need to feel your presence. I’ve played in a lot of environments. Trust me, it’s better to play when your fans are in the stands cheering for you,” Faulk said.
