It was a Christmas Miracle at the Meadowlands.

The New York Jets appeared to be on their way to their first win of the season on Sunday when they stopped the Las Vegas Raiders on a fourth-and-3 with 1:42 remaining in the game and had a 28-24 lead.

Fans on social media were quick to express their disdain for a Jets win as it jeopardized their chances of landing the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft and potentially drafting quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

But these fans should have known better: never doubt the Jets to find new ways to lose.

With 35 seconds remaining, the Raiders got the ball back. Derek Carr moved them up across midfield and with 13 seconds left in the game he connected with Henry Ruggs III for a game-winning touchdown for a 31-28 Raiders victory and Jets loss.

The Jets inexplicably did not defend the end zone and allowed Ruggs to get behind the secondary on a streak and had an easy score.

The result left Jets fans celebrating and the rest of the football world in awe at the incredible way the Jets continue to find ways to lose and keep themselves in position for Lawrence.

Of course, the fact that the Jets lost that game had some questioning not only the team’s defensive effort, but also whether or not Lawrence would even still want to go to a team that loses like that.
