LSU looks to pick up its second-straight win when the Tigers head to Alabama to face Auburn (3-2) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
True freshman quarterback TJ Finley will make his second start at quarterback for the LSU (2-2) as Myles Brennan recovers from an injury.
Here’s what to watch for in the matchup:
Will TJ Finley repeat the success from his debut?
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said Finley had one of the best freshmen debuts he’d been a part of. Finley completed roughly 80 percent of his passes in the Tigers’ win against South Carolina for 265 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for a score.
Can LSU’s runners have another big game?
The Tigers received impressive performances from running backs Ty Davis-Price and John Emery in the win against South Carolina. Davis-Price rushed for a career high 135 yards and a touchdown while Emery added 88 yards and score.
Will Terrace Marshall Jr. continue his record setting pace?
LSU’s top receiver is currently on pace to break the SEC and LSU record for receiving touchdowns in a single season which was set by his former teammate Ja'Marr Chase in 2019. Marshall has nine receiving touchdowns already which leads SEC and is second in the nation. He currently has more receiving touchdowns than nine SEC teams.
Will the Tigers defense continue to show more improvement?
LSU’s defense made a big improvement against South Carolina, but the Tigers want to see that trend continue.
“Overall best performance on defense, but still not enough,” Orgeron said this week. “We still have some work to do there, especially in the coverage aspect.”
Seth Williams vs. the LSU secondary
Auburn receiver Seth Williams is currently sixth in the SEC in receiving and has proven to be a big play threat. LSU’s secondary has been inconsistent at times this season so the matchup between watching the Tigers secondary and Auburn’s passing attack will be one to watch.
