LSU is set to face Missouri this week in Columbia at 11 a.m. in a game that was relocated from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge due to Hurricane Delta.
The Tigers are coming off a win against the Vanderbilt Commodores and looking to make it two- straight.
Here’s five things to watch in the game:
Which receiver will breakout this week?
Last week, Jontre Kirklin scored the first two touchdowns of his LSU career and caught three passes for a career-high 65 yards. In Week 1, Jaray Jenkins caught five passes for 85 yards. So far this season the Tigers have had a different receiver post a career-high. With LSU’s top two receivers from last season no longer with team, several players have stepped up. Tigers head Coach Ed Orgeron said LSU is hoping to continue to play as many receivers as possible.
How will the defensive line rotation look?
LSU will get defensive lineman Glen Logan back this for Saturday’s game and boost a unit that has been one of the Tigers’ most productive. Ed Orgeron said the defensive line rotation will get tight as he’s been impressed with Joseph Evans, Apu Ika and true freshman Jaquelin Roy who saw extended playing time against Vanderbilt.
Will a particular running back get hot?
Chris Curry was unavailable against Vanderbilt and sophomore John Emery “got hot” and finished the game with 103 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. Orgeron said he still wants all three running backs to split carries but LSU showed it will stick with a back that’s playing well.
Can Myles Brennan build on his Week 2 performance?
After an inconsistent start in the Tigers season opener, Myles Brennan showed a lot of improvement at Vanderbilt completing 62 percent of his passes for four touchdowns.
Will LSU’s secondary build on their Week 2 performance as well?
After giving up an SEC record amount of passing yards, the Tigers secondary vastly improved with the return of All-American cornerback Derek Stingley.
“I think Derek Stingley's presence helped everybody, including me, to be honest with you,” Ed Orgeron said. “It gave us a lot of confidence. He's one of the best players in America. Also, it took the pressure off of Elias (Ricks). It took the pressure off of Cordale (Flott).”
