Former LSU standout Greg Deichmann will make his Major League debut with the Chicago Cubs after getting called up from Triple-A.
Deichmann, 26, will replace injured outfielder Jason Heyward on the Cubs roster.
The Metairie native and Brother Martin alum who starred in Baton Rouge during his college years has never appeared in an MLB game. The Cubs acquired him recently in a trade that sent reliever Andrew Chafin to the Oakland Athletics.
Deichmann's stats this season at the Triple-A level: .291 batting average with four homers and an .864 OPS in 67 games.
