Can LSU baseball do it again? After a one-game break, the Tigers are again backed into a corner and one loss away from elimination as they return to face the No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville.
A loss would mean a trip home and the final game of Paul Mainieri's legendary career as the LSU coach, having already announced he'll retire at season's end. A win would set up a winner-take-all third game on Monday.

THE HISTORY
LSU baseball has faced off with Tennessee once before this season, and it didn't go the Tigers' way. Despite winning their final four road SEC series, it was their opener against Tennessee that ended in a Vols sweep and set the Tigers on an uphill climb the rest of the way.
Those results:
- March 26: Tennessee 3, LSU 1; W: Chad Dallas; L: Landon Marceaux
- March 27: Tennessee 9, LSU 8 (11); W: Sean Hunley; L: Devin Fontenot
- March 28: Tennessee 3, LSU 2; W: Sean Hunley; L: Garrett Edwards
The Tigers, now jokingly calling themselves the 'Road Dogs' have thrived on the road since, culminating in a victory at the Eugene regional, where they won four consecutive elimination games that included back-to-back wins over host Oregon.
That performance sent LSU to its 15th Super Regional in program history. The Tigers, after Game 1, are now 17-12 all-time in Super Regional games, advancing 8 times to the College World Series. But history is against them in one regard: LSU has never won a Super Regional on the road.
Some potentially good news, while this season marked the first time LSU had ever advanced out of a regional after losing their opening game, the same is not true of the Super Regionals. The Tigers have twice won the final two games to advance to Omaha after dropping their first game. They first accomplished that feat in 2003, dropping the opener to Baylor before winning the final two games. They did it again in 2008, losing the opener to UC-Irvine before winning the final two games. Both of those series were played in Baton Rouge.
