LSU suffered its second loss of the 2020 season Saturday after being defeated 45-41 at Missouri. The Tigers failed to score late in the game and struggled on defense throughout.
WWL Radio’s Bobby Hebert said after the game that the Tigers “have to make significant changes in order to get to six wins.”
“I say after today, they will be lucky to go .500. That’s at best. That’s a very humiliating loss against Missouri," concluded the Cajun Cannon.
Hebert said LSU quarterback Myles Brennan, who threw for 430 yards and four touchdowns, is playing winning football, but isn’t getting enough help from his supporting cast.
“Inside the five-yard line, you should be able to go under center and win up front,” said the first QB to lead the New Orleans Saints to a playoff.
Following the loss, LSU fans on social media began to call for the firing of Tigers defensive coordinator Bo Pelini. Hebert believes it’s soon to make that move, but he said the defense has to improve after giving up nearly 600 yards of offense.
“Not yet, no excuse for the way they played. He’s the defensive coordinator and Coach O being the head coach...it’s unacceptable,” concluded the Cajun Cannon.
Hebert added, "The LSU ‘defense doesn’t have any swagger. They are just out there.”
Bobby Hebert was deeply concerned about about how lost and confused much of LSU's defense looked, specifically the secondary.
“You have to know what you’re doing,” Hebert said. You have to mix up man to man and zone. Nobody looks like they know what to do. They got no pass rush.”
