LSU’s Jayden Daniels has received his first of what should be several national awards he’ll collect over the next week and a half. On Thursday, Daniels was named the recipient of the 2023 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The award goes to the nation’s top quarterback who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement.

Joe Burrow is the only other LSU player to win this award.

Daniels will be honored on December 7th in Baltimore.

That Kid Jayden is also a finalist for the Manning Award, the Maxwell Award, the Davey O’ Brien Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

The Manning Award goes to the best quarterback and it’s the only award that considers a player’s postseason performance.

On Monday, Daniels will likely be named a Heisman finalist as Heisman voters have until Monday to cast their vote.

On Sunday, we’ll find out LSU’s bowl destination. A 9-3 record and a ranking of 13 in the College Football Playoff is not good enough to get the Tigers into a New Year’s Six Bowl, like the Cotton Bowl.

Since they played last year in a bowl game in Orlando and started this season in Orlando, Tampa Bay is the most likely bowl destination for LSU.

A possible opponent for the Tigers in the ReliaQuest Bowl is Notre Dame. It would be a great game for the two fan bases. There are plenty of Fighting Irish fans that were glad to see Brian Kelly leave South Bend, Indiana, after 12 seasons at Notre Dame.

Iowa, North Carolina State, and Wisconsin are other possible opponents for LSU at the ReliaQuest Bowl.

But none of those opponents would create the buzz an LSU-Notre Dame match-up would bring. If LSU is in the ReliaQuest Bowl. The game will be played on New Year’s Day at 11 AM central time.
