Long before Kim Mulkey became the LSU women's basketball coach, she was spending the larger chunk of her Baton Rouge time in the stands at Alex Box Stadium.

That's because her son, Kramer Robertson, was starring at shortstop for the Tigers on the roster of former head coach Paul Mainieri. That pairing was back in a baseball crowd this week to cheer on Robertson, who was called up to the majors for the first time with the St. Louis Cardinals.

“What a moment for Kramer, for our family,” Mulkey said on SportsTalk with Kristian Garic, Bobby Hebert and Mike Detillier on Tuesday evening.

Robertson played for the Tigers from 2014-'17, and was ultimately selected by the Cardinals in the 4th round of the 2017 draft. Robertson has a career .248 average with 377 hits, 30 home runs and 56 stolen bases in the Cardinals' farm system.

“It’s fun. I’m sitting here watching a lot of these guys that Kramer has come up with through the minors. Hugging all of them and just happy for all of them," Mulkey said. "Everyone wants the opportunity to say they were a pro athlete. This is good. This is fun and I told him, ‘you walk out there like you belong.’

The Cardinals (16-12) were hosting the Baltimore Orioles for the start of a three-game homestand beginning Tuesday evening.
