LSU baseball faces another top 10 foe with road trip to Auburn

Last week LSU swept 10th ranked Oklahoma and this weekend the Tigers are back on the road to face 9th ranked Auburn.

Auburn is 23-10 overall, 6-6 in the SEC, and 15-5 at Plainsman Park.

Auburn has won three of its four SEC series.

They have defeated Kentucky in Lexingon, beat Vanderbilt and Alabama at home and were swept by Georgia in Athens.

Auburn is coming off a thrilling 9-8 victory over Geogia Tech in Atlanta on Tuesday.

How will Anderson rebound after throwing 135 pitches last week?

Auburn Senior RH Sam Dutton (4-2, 2.66 ERA)

Dutton was dominant last time out as he threw seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits in a 10-0 win over Alabama. The former LSU Tiger has walked just 10 hitters in 44 innings. Transferred from LSU after getting married over the summer and his brother also transferred to Auburn. He’s from Southside, Alabama.

Game 2

LSU Junior RH Anthony Eyanson (5-0, 3.38 ERA)

Eyanson has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts and he’s struck out 20 in 10.2 innings.

Auburn Junior LH Cade Fisher (0-0, 4.43 ERA)

Fisher was a freshman All-American at Florida and spent two seasons at Gainesville. He’s made seven starts this season, but he’s only thrown 20.1 innings. His outings usually last between 3 to 4 innings.

Game 3

LSU Sophomore RH Chase Shores (5-1, 4.66 ERA)

Opposing hitters are hitting .287 against Shores, but he’s only allowed two home runs.

Carson Myers (0-1, 3.24 ERA, 3 saves)

A big left-hander who is experienced. He’s 6-3. 213 pounds and this is his fourth season of college baseball. Myers played two seasons at UAB and this is his second season at Auburn. 30 strikeouts in 25 innings. Only four walks. Gave up a couple of runs against Alabama last week, but was dominate versus Georgia the week before.

Cam Tilly (2-1, 3.57 ERA)

Six-foot-two, sophomore right-hander from Indiana. Opposing hitters are only hitting .156 against him.

Auburn’s Top Hitters

Ike Irish

Right fielder. He’s hitting .356, 7 home runs and 26 RBIs. Three-year player. Missed a week and a half earlier this season with an injury. He’s swinging a hot bat, eight hits in his last four games.

Chase Fralick

Freshman catcher from Peachtree City, Georgia. He’s hitting .345 with 3 home runs and 27 RBIs. He had a four-hit game last weekend against Alabama.

Cooper McMurray

The senior started his career at Kansas. This is his third year at Auburn. He’s been one of Auburn’s best hitters since arriving in 2023. This year he’s hitting .344 with team leading 8 home runs and team-high 31RBIs. Leads the team in walks and strikeouts. Hit a grand slam versus Georgia Tech on Tuesday.
