No more division play in Southeastern Conference baseball and there are two more teams. That gave the league’s coaches the difficult task of trying to predict the final standings in a 16-team league, in which ten of the teams are ranked in Baseball America’s preseason Top 25.

Baseball America has Texas A&M ranked number one in its preseason poll, followed by LSU, defending national champion Tennessee and Arkansas.

In the SEC preseason baseball coaches poll released on Wednesday, the Aggies are picked to win the league followed by the Volunteers, Razorbacks, and then LSU, who received one first place.

Florida is picked to finish 5th, followed by Georgia, Vanderbilt, Texas, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina (welcome back to the SEC Paul Mainieri), Ole Miss and Missouri.

The Aggies were national runners-up last year and many believe they have the most talent in 2025 led by potential number one pick Jace LaViolette, 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year Gavin Grahovac and right-handed pitcher Ryan Prager who is a preseason All-American.

Tennessee lost a lot of great players from last year’s national championship team, including Christian Moore, Blake Burke, Drew Beam and Aaron Combs. But Volunteers head coach Tony Vitello went into the transfer portal to get Louisville shortstop Gavin Kilen, Ole Miss third baseman Andrew Fisher and Kennesaw State left hander Liam Doyle.

Every year Arkansas is in the hunt to win an SEC title with long-time head coach Dave Van Horn. The Razorbacks were outstanding on the mound last year and they should be again this year as they are led by Preseason SEC Pitcher of the Year Gabe Gaeckle.

Arkansas was inconsistent at the plate last year so they’ve added outfielders Charles Davalan from Florida Gulf Coast and TCU’s Logan Maxwell. The Hogs also return All SEC shortstop Wehiwa Aloy.

After failing to get to the College World Series in 2023, Coach Jay Johnson brought in a very talented transfer portal class led by starting second baseman Daniel Dickinson and Anthony Eyanson, who is a potential weekend starter.
