The top edge rusher in the transfer portal has committed to LSU, and it’s an expensive acquisition. Princewill Umanmielen led Ole Miss with nine sacks for the Rebels last season and was named to the All-SEC third team by the coaches.
In the 2025 season, Umanmielen played in all 15 games for Ole Miss and made one start, recorded 44 tackles, and had 13 tackles for a loss.
His ability to rush the passer gives LSU something it desperately needs. Last season, the Tigers had a total of 27 sacks, tenth most in the SEC.
“Prince Umanmielen gives the LSU Tigers an excellent edge presence on defense,” WWL Radio’s Mike Detillier. “Very fluid athlete who displays first-rate bend and leverage moves. Violent initial step off the snap and has closing speed.”
Umanmielen started his college career at Nebraska. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Manor High School in Texas. Umanmielen appeared in 23 games for the Cornhuskers over two seasons, but did not record a sack during those two seasons. He had 35 tackles and 8 tackles for a loss at Nebraska.
He is an expensive acquisition for the Tigers.
Umanmielen signed a revenue-sharing agreement with Ole Miss to play for the Rebels in 2026, but last Friday, he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Because of the Martin Luther King Holiday and negotiations over his buyout, Umanmielen did not officially enter the portal until Wednesday and quickly committed to the Tigers.
Sources say his buyout was somewhere between $500,000 to $600,000, which LSU will pay to Ole Miss. Between NIL and revenue-sharing, Umanmielen is expected to receive a reported one million dollars.
He’s the fourth Ole Miss player to follow Kiffin to LSU, joining LB TJ Dottery, WR Winnie Watkins and OT Devin Harper.
