Imagine if Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels or Dylan Crews said they were coming back for another season at LSU. That’s the equivalent of what occurred for the LSU gymnastics program as Haleigh Bryant announced on Tuesday she’s coming back for a fifth and final season.

Bryant just helped LSU win its first championship in program history and her return gives the Tigers a great chance at repeating.

Bryant was the best collegiate gymnast in the country this past season winning an NCAA all-around championship.

She’s also the greatest gymnast in LSU history. The 2024 AAI Award winner has an LSU record 18 perfects 10’s, three 10’s came in one meet and has the highest all-around score in school history in 39.925.

Bryant is from North Carolina, but committed to LSU when she was in the eighth grade.

“LSU means everything,” Bryant said. “It’s been my dream to come to LSU since I was 12 years old. Just getting the opportunity to wear these two colors has been a dream. I really just wanted to give it one more go with (Jay Clark) and try to go back-to-back know.”

NCAA floor champion and 2024 Olympian Aleah Finnegan, SEC co-floor champ KJ Johnson and SEC beam champion Konnor McClain will also be back next year.

There’s a chance Olivia Dunne returns, along with Alyona Shchennikova, Sierra Ballard and Chase Brock.

LSU also welcomes the nation’s number one recruiting class led by Zoe Miller and Kaliya Lincoln.

Bryant has already competed at LSU for four years. But 2021 is considered a COVID year as the team had a limited schedule.

“I love gymnastics. It’s been a part of my life for so long, and I don’t think I was really ready for it to end,” Bryant said. “After Nationals, I kind of told myself I was done. I was like, this is how I want to go out, I have accomplished every single thing I want to accomplish with my team and individually.

“But, I think at the end of the day, it was just an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. It’s the last year for these COVID years. I talked to my family, my coaches, and they just thought it’d be the best for me.”
