LSU has won a recruiting battle over Ole Miss as four-star Ruston High safety Jayden Anding committed to the Tigers on Tuesday afternoon. He is the younger brother of current LSU corner Aidan Anding. Jayden Anding is nearly six feet tall and weighs 170 pounds.

According to On3.com, Anding is ranked as the 29th best safety in the nation and the 11th best overall prospect in Louisiana.

Sports reporter Matt Belinson covers Ruston High for the Ruston Leader and says Jayden Anding does it all for the Bearcats.

He’s a rangy safety; the coaches trust him to make plays on the ball. He’s also a hard-hitting safety who is not afraid of contact,” Belinson said. “He’s a kid that will play down in the box and come down and make tackles when they are missed on the front line.”

In 2025 for Ruston, Anding had 61 tackles, four interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.

LSU offered Jayden Anding a scholarship last August, but Ole Miss really pushed him to come to Oxford. He visited the Ole Miss campus in January.

Belinson said in the end it was likely an easy decision for Jayden Anding to commit to LSU. He said being recruited by LSU assistant coaches Corey Raymond and Ed Orgeron certainly helped.

“You win a national title, it’s pretty easy to sell what you are doing at LSU,” Belinson said. “I think Jayden knows what Coach Raymond has done with that program and what he has done for his brother; I’m sure those conversations have been happening.”

LSU’s 2027 recruiting class has 16 commitments, and Anding is the third defensive back in the class and the second player from Ruston High School, joining five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson.

On3.com ranks LSU’s class as the tenth best in the country. Texas A&M is ranked number one. Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida are also in the top ten.
