There were a lot of disappointing things about Sunday night’s loss to Florida State for the LSU Tigers. Coach Brian Kelly has harped on a particular theme, the lack of a competitive edge and urgency.

LSU QB Jayden Daniels told reporters on Wednesday practices have been spirited this week.

“We’ve been very intentional with what we are doing and what want to accomplish, how we prepare, day in and day out, each period we have to keep that intensity up like Coach Kelly talks about, because that translates over to the games, so how you practice is how you are going to play in the games,” said Daniels.

Some valuable lessons were had in the blowout loss to the Seminoles, but defensive tackle Maason Smith said you can’t dwell on it for too long.

“We are all trying to forget about and just put it behind us, because we do have a very long season ahead of us, you can go only take this week by week or you might get overwhelmed with the schedule coming up,” said Smith.

Kelly says Smith should see about 30 plays on Saturday as he makes his long-awaited return from a torn ACL suffered in the season opener in 2022.

Expect a lot of players to get playing time as LSU should have no trouble beating Grambling. The G-Men lost its season opener to Hampton 35-31. Grambling allowed 279 rushing yards, so this should be a contest where LSU gets its running backs involved and gets the ground game going.

“We still have a really good team, everything we want is still front of us, we have to hold ourselves accountable for the mistakes that we made in the game and move on, because you can’t live in the past,” said LSU RB Noah Cain.

Cain only had four yards on four carries against FSU.

“We plan on taking our anger out on Grambling,” said Cain.
