A five-star edge rusher de-committed from the Tigers on Wednesday night and announced he will sign at Miami instead. Jaiden Bryant also announced he’s shutting down his recruitment.
Six-foot-four, 245-pounder, from Columbia, South Carolina, is ranked as the fourth best edge rusher in the Class of 2027 and the 19th best overall player according to 247 Sports.
He committed to LSU a couple of days after South Caroling defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas was hired by Lane Kiffin.
What is strange about this flip is that on Wednesday afternoon Bryant tweeted Geaux Tigers and that night it was announced he was heading to Miami.
Bryant’s defection leaves LSU with just four commitments for the Class of 2027. They are Ruston tight end Ahmad Hudson, Evangel quarterback Peyton Houston, Cecilia athlete Braylon Calais, and wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens from Hollywood, Florida.
The news of Bryant’s decommitment takes place after LSU gained momentum on the high school recruiting trail after six high-profile recruits visited the Baton Rouge campus this past weekend, including four-star edge rusher Abraham Sesay from Exton, Pennsylvania. 247 sports has Sesay ranked as the sixth best edge rusher in the Class of 2027. Notre Dame is considered the favorite to sign Sesay.
Also last weekend, LSU reportedly made a big impression on Brother Martin five-star receiver Eason Royal, who is committed to Texas.
LSU is also pursuing five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, who is committed to Texas Tech. Brewster reportedly hit it off with LSU assistant coach Ed Orgeron during his visit to Baton Rouge. There’s a viral video of Orgeron doing defensive lineman drills with Brewster during his visit.
This weekend is LSU hosting KJ Green from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Green is a five-star recruit and is ranked as the second best edge rusher in the country according to 247 sports. Coach Lucas has reportedly been recruiting this kid since middle school.
