LSU quarterback Myles Brennan is doubtful for Saturday’s game at Florida, Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron said Wednesday.
“He’s doubtful, I think that maybe by Friday he’ll come around but he didn’t practice yesterday he’s not going to practice today,” Orgeron said during Wednesday's SEC teleconference. “I haven’t talked to Jack (Marucci) yet but I know he’s not practicing today. I think he’s going to practice toward the end of the week.”
Orgeron said Brennan took a hard hit during the first half of LSU’s loss to Missouri but was able to finish the game.
“He was was very sore,” Orgeron said. “It was hard for him to rotate to throw the ball but he went out in the second half, he didn’t blink. So I was very proud of him.”
If Brennan is unable to play, Orgeron said the Tigers may have to start either of its true freshman backups Max Johnson or TJ Finley Saturday afternoon.
“Max and TJ both had great practices yesterday and they are both equal right now,” Orgeron said. “Both of those young men have done a great job and if we have to start one of them we are going to do it and I’m going to believe in them.”
Orgeron said Johnson and Finley have split reps in this week’s practices so far and he said both quarterbacks are similar in a lot of ways.
“I would say Max is probably more a runner, a little bit, TJ has a strong arm, (he) has had an excellent camp,” Oregon said. “I really think that both of them are phenomenal young players. It’s hard to distinguish the difference between both of them they so good.”
