The rematch LSU women’s basketball fans have been anticipating for the last six weeks will take place on Sunday, and the result very well could determine each team’s seed in the NCAA Tournament.
LSU beat Ole Miss 75-67 Saturday night to punch their ticket to the SEC Tournament Championship Game. Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson led the Tigers with 21 points each. Aneesah Morrow and Hailey Van Lith each scored 12 points.
Despite the win, the Tigers suffered a major loss in the fourth quarter when guard Last-Tear Poa was stretchered off the court. After the game, Coach Kim Mulkey told reporters that Poa had movement in her extremities and that her CT scans were clear. Doctors later diagnosed Poa with a concussion.
South Carolina is the final unbeaten women’s basketball team in the nation, carrying a 31-0 record into the championship game. A victory for the Gamecocks will all but guarantee the team the overall number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Tipoff between LSU and South Carolina is set for 2 p.m.
