Coming off of a national-championship winning campaign – the first in school history – and entering the season ranked #1 in the nation while sporting a roster full of stars and with a hall of fame level coach on the bench, expectations were high for LSU’s women’s basketball team.
But the Tigers laid an egg in their season opener, falling 92-78 to #20 Colorado, and the online backlash has not been kind, particularly to the team’s biggest star.
Angel Reese saw her profile grow considerably since winning the natty last spring as she became a face not just of basketball but of NIL deals as well, her valuation ranking her among the top women in college sports.
So it was Reese who bore the brunt of the criticism in the wake of the loss.

Of course, that was just the first game of a long season, and LSU has lots of time to rebound. They're back on the court Thursday in the PMAC against Queens of North Carolina.
