Ka’Morreun Pimpton is the latest player to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The six-foot-six tight end from Fort Worth, Texas, was in line to see a lot more playing time next season, with starting tight end Mason Taylor declaring for the NFL draft.

But Pimpton has decided to look elsewhere after two seasons at LSU where he caught a total of seven passes, six of the catches occurred in 2024.

Pimpton is athletic for his size and has good hands. Coach Brian Kelly spoke during preseason camp about the possibilities of playing multiple tight ends at the same time, because of Taylor, Pimpton and Trey’Dez Green’s pass catching abilities.

But we never really saw that.

Pimpton’s departure leaves LSU with just two tight ends on its roster, Green and four-star signee J-D LaFleur.

And you make the argument that Green is not a tight end anymore, since he was used towards the end of the season as a wide receiver in the red zone.

LSU also no longer has a tight ends coach Slade Nagle, as left the program to be the offensive coordinator at Houston.

LSU will likely need to sign two, possibly three tight ends out of the transfer portal.

The biggest target for LSU to get is Luke Hasz, who is leaving Arkansas. Hasz is coming off a season in which he caught 26 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns. He is interested in LSU and he’ll be on campus today, but he also plans to visit Ole Miss and Alabama.

Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp is another interesting possibility. He led the Sooners in receptions with 42 this past season for 324 yards. Before going to Oklahoma, Sharp played two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana.

Northwest Missouri State transfer Zach Atkins has already received an offer from LSU after catching 18 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

He’s also received offers from South Carolina, Ole Miss and Arkansas.
