The official school colors at Holy Cross School in New Orleans are blue and gold, but it seems that, come commencement time this spring, there might be a distinct addition of purple in the mix.

The Crescent City Catholic institution announced on its Facebook page that LSU head football coach Brian Kelly would be the speaker at this year’s graduation ceremonies.

“The graduates, their families, the HC Class of ‘74, and the entire HC community look forward to welcoming Coach Kelly to the campus for graduation exercises at 9am on May 18, 2024,” read the announcement credited to Holy Cross School President and Headmaster William J. Gallagher.

Kelly spent 12 seasons as the head coach at famously Catholic Notre Dame before accepting the job at LSU in December 2021. He’ll head into the upcoming 2024 football season as the winningest active head coach at a major college program.

“Coach Kelly exhibits the character, integrity, and leadership that will enable him to be a superb commencement speaker for the Class of ’24,” the announcement said.
