Orgeron: There 'ain't gonna be' a QB controversy, says Myles Brennan is LSU's starter when healthy

LSU moved to 2-2 on the season, Saturday night, after picking up a 52-24 win against South Carolina.

The Tigers started true freshman TJ Finley in place of an injured Myles Brennan and the 6-foot-6 former Ponchatoula standout played well completing 17-of-21 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns with one interception while rushing for another.

During the broadcast, ESPN’s announcers suggested that LSU stick with Finley at quarterback for the rest of the season, even when Brennan returns.

However, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said after the game that he knows Finley’s performance might lead some to believe there’s a QB controversy brewing, but emphasized “It ain’t gonna be on our part!

“I can tell you that,” Orgeron said. “Myles is our starting quarterback and he has done a great job. I don’t know when Myles is going to be ready but Myles is going to be our starting quarterback.”

Brennan started LSU’s first three games this season and posted huge numbers. He became the first player in the programs history to throw for 300 or more yards in his first three career starts and his totals  of 1,112 yards, 79 completions and 11 touchdown passes are the most of any LSU quarterback in their first three career starts. He’s also the first LSU QB to start a season with at least 300 yards passing in each game.
