Following Monday night’s upset loss to the Southern Jaguars, LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson promised new rules would be implemented to make sure his team was prepared to play.
One of those new rules became public during Tuesday night’s Jay Johnson Radio show.
“There’s not going to be any cellphones in the locker room or the clubhouse for a very long time,” said Johnson. “Looking at the phone is not going to make anyone a better player and it’s not going to make us a better team. I want everything they have while they are there.”
Johnson says it’s a small adjustment, but they are going to do what they can to get back on track.
LSU is 20-10 overall, 2-7 in the Southeastern Conference and in sixth place in the division.
Their pitchers have struggled to throw strikes. IN nine SEC games, they’ve walked a league-high 53 hitters.
LSU is also struggling at the plate, hitting .243 as a team in league play which ranks as the 13th worst in the SEC.
The Tigers have lost four in a row and will welcome Vanderbilt to Alex Box Stadium for a three-game series. The Commodores will bring a four-game winning streak to Baton Rouge after sweeping Missouri. They are 23-6 overall, 6-3 in the SEC.
