While the ill-advised southern accent he tried on for size after getting hired last year was… a regrettable decision, second-year LSU football coach Brian Kelly has found a better way to endear himself to the Tiger fanbase – aside from taking down Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide with a gutsy overtime call, as he did last season.
Kelly has taken up one of the favorite pastimes of Louisianians: fishing.
The press was tipped off to Kelly’s new favorite pastime by LSU punter Jay Bramlett, so of course, inquiring minds needed to know the details.
“When you come to ‘Sportsmen’s Paradise,’ why wouldn’t you fish?” Kelly said when asked about his new hobby at a news conference. And it sounds like he’s found where they’re biting.
“Down in Port Fourchon, it seems like they just jump in your boat,” Kelly said. “And who wouldn’t want to fish when they just jump in your boat?”
LSU is set to begin the season ranked 5th in the nation and will open up the 2023 slate with a top 10 showdown against #8 Florida State on September 3.
