Today is the first day of the early signing period for high school recruits. But two five-star defensive linemen who have been committed to LSU for months are not expected to sign this week.
According to on3.com, Lamar Brown from University High and Richard Anderson from Edna Karr High School will stay committed to LSU, but it is unknown if they will sign with the Tigers. They will most likely sign their national letter of intent during the signing period in February.
It looked like a positive sign when new Tigers football coach Lane Kiffin met with Brown on his first night in Baton Rouge. Brown is considered the number one player in the country in the Class of 2026.
Brown and Anderson do not know who the defensive coordinator or defensive line coach at LSU will be. Current DC, Blake Baker, is up for the head coaching job at Tulane. If Baker does not get the job at his alma mater, it’s expected he’ll return as defensive coordinator for the Tigers.
It is unknown if LSU defensive line coach Kyle Williams will be retained. It is also speculated that Ed Orgeron could be brought in as LSU’s new D-line coach. Orgeron’s name has also been floated as a possible candidate for the head coaching job at Tulane.
Anderson, who is the number one defensive tackle in the country, is expected to enroll in college in January. He’s apparently waiting to see who will be on LSU’s coaching staff before making any decision.
LSU’s 2026 recruiting class will look different than what was expected before Kiffin’s hiring. Tuesday saw a flurry of decommitments and commitments.
Here are the LSU commitments that are looking at other options.
Warren Easton offensive lineman Jalan Chapman has reopened his commitment.
Four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby from Airline High School in Bossier City has decommitted.
Three-star wide receiver Kervin Johnson of Tioga has flipped from LSU to Ole Miss.
But LSU has gained several new commitments.
Four-star tight end JC Anderson, who is six-foot-seven, has decommitted from Ole Miss and the Illinois prep star is now committed to LSU.
LSU also flipped Ole Miss offensive lineman Ryan Miret. The Top-100 interior offensive lineman is from Miami.
And Lafayette Christian Academy star Brayden Allen has committed to LSU. The four-star wide receiver recently de-committed from Oklahoma. Allen met with Kiffin on Sunday night.
