With the 2023-24 season women’s college basketball season right around the corner, the preseason prognostications are rolling in, including which players are expected to star on the court.

Of course, a number of high-profile players will be donning the purple and gold for LSU as Kim Mulkey’s squad looks to back up their first ever national championship with a second straight, and there’s no doubt the biggest name on the floor in virtually ever contest will be Tigers star Angel Reese.

And yet after accomplishing so much last season, her first in Baton Rouge after transferring from Maryland, and despite being one of the most well-known names heading into the new season, Reese was not a unanimous choice for the preseason All-American team.

She did make the cut, but despite averaging 23 points and 15 rebounds last season in conjunction with leading LSU to its first women’s hoops natty in school history, there are still some who apparently doubt what Reese will do this time around.

Could that slight snub help recement the chip on Reese’s shoulder that powered her to the promised land last year?

Only time will tell, but the wait is growing ever shorter. Beginning the year as the preseason #1 team in the country, LSU opens its season November 6 against #20 Colorado.
