It’s the second Saturday this season without LSU football and after last week’s collapse in College Station, Tiger fans probably can use a break before taking on Alabama on November 9th.
With the calendar flipping to November, this is when college football gets interesting and there are plenty of games to watch. Here’s your guide:
11 AM #19 Ole Miss and Arkansas
The Rebels have slim college football playoff hopes, so beating Arkansas is a must and they can really get back into the picture if they beat Georgia next week.
Arkansas bounced back from its loss to LSU by scoring 58 points against Mississippi State last week. Razorbacks Coach Sam Pittman is 3-2 against Ole Miss, winning all three games played in Fayetteville.
11 AM #4 Ohio State at #3 Penn State
It seems like every year a Big Ten team goes through the first two months of the season without playing anyone of substance. Last year it was eventual national champion Michigan. This year it’s Penn State, who is 7-and-0, and it’s only marquee win is over Illinois.
Ohio State already has a loss, and a second defeat could keep them out of the college football playoffs.
Penn State starting quarterback Drew Allar is a gametime decision after injuring his knee last week.
2:30 PM Florida at #2 Georgia
The Bulldogs appear to be the best team in the Southeastern Conference. One bad half of football in Tuscaloosa is their lone blemish.
But if Georgia loses in this rivalry game, they could miss the College Football Playoff.
After a 1-and-2 start, Florida has won three of its last four and scored 48 points last time out against Kentucky.
True freshman quarterback Drew Lagway has started the last two games and he’s averaging a whopping 19 yards a completion.
But this is when it gets tough for the Gators. Let’s see what they have left on November 16th when they host LSU after playing Georgia and Texas in back-to-back weeks.
6:30 PM #10 Texas A&M at South Carolina
The Aggies take a seven-game winning streak to South Carolina. Texas A&M has two wins at home against teams that were ranked in the Top 10 at the time of the game. Let’s see what they do on the road in a hostile environment.
A&M Coach Mike Elko has yet to announce who will start at quarterback between Conner Weigman and Marcel Reed.
6:45 PM Kentucky at #7th Tennessee
The Wildcats already pulled off one upset this season by beating Ole Miss in Oxford. Can Kentucky do it again?
Three teams from the SEC will certainly get into the College Football playoff, but who will be the fourth, if four teams from the league get in. Tennessee and LSU are among the possible fourth teams from the SEC that could get into the 12-team CFP. The Vols have a big game against Georgia in a couple of weeks, but a loss to the Wildcats will likely take them out of CFP contention.
Former Dutchtown star Dylan Sampson is one of the nation’s top running backs. He’s rushed for 838 and 17 touchdowns for the Volunteers.
