LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said Thursday starting quarterback Myles Brennan still hasn’t practiced this week but that the team is optimistic the junior will be ready for the Tigers’ Nov. 14 matchup with Alabama.
“Talking to (team doctor) Jack (Maruci), he feels that he’s going to be back and be ready to go against Alabama but we’re not sure yet,” Orgeron said.
Brennan suffered an injury in LSU’s loss to Missouri and hasn’t practiced since that game. With Brennan out, freshman TJ Finley will make his second start for LSU Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Finley earned the start last weekend and accounted for three touchdowns as he led LSU to a 52-24 win against South Carolina.
“I enjoyed the TJ Finley show Saturday night,” Orgeron said. “I hope I see it again. TJ did a phenomenal job, one of the best freshmen performances I’ve ever seen. Let’s see what he does this weekend.
“I think he’s only going to continue to get better.”
