Parkway standout Gary Burney Jr committed to Houston on May 30th, but after taking an official visit to LSU this past weekend, Burney is now a member of LSU’s 2027 recruiting class.

Burney is 6-2, 185 pounds and is rated as a three-star prospect.

Burney became a big play-receiver for Parkway during the second half of his sophomore season. He really turned some heads during his junior season, catching 76 passes for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns.

“I have been waiting for this,” Burney Jr tells Rivals. “I have been overlooked and doubted, but Coach G-Mac gave me a chance and bet on me, and that was all I needed.”

G-Mac is LSU receivers coach George McDonald, who invited Burney to LSU’s camp earlier this month and came away impressed with the athletic receiver.

Burney also competes in track and ran the 200 in 22.72 seconds.

He’s LSU’s fourth wide receiver commit in the Class of 2027, joining Cade Cooper from Pennsylvania, Ah’Mari Stevens from Florida, and Braylon Calais from Cecilia High School in St. Martin Parish.

According to On3.com, LSU now has the 10th-best recruiting class in the country.
