The #8 LSU Tigers' six-game win streak is over.
Coach Brian Kelly's squad blew a 10-point halftime lead, getting outscored 31-6 in the second half en route to a 38-23 loss to the #14 Texas A&M Aggies. LSU (6-2) will have a bye week this coming week ahead of their November 9 matchup against Alabama.
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko swapped out quarterbacks to start the third quarter, benching Conner Weigman in favor of Marcel Reed. Reed then threw only two passes in the second half, completing both for 70 yards. However, Reed was unstoppable as a runner, rushing for 62 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries. In fact, A&M (7-1) scored touchdowns on each of the first four drives that Reed led.
The Aggie defense also came alive in the second half, intercepting LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier three times in the final 30 minutes of the game. Nussmeier finished the game completing 25 of 50 passes for 405 yards, two touchdowns, and those three picks. Nussmeier also rushed for a touchdown, but he finished with a net of -3 yards rushing.
Tiger wide outs Aaron Anderson and Kyren Lacy each finished with more than 100 yards receiving. Anderson finished the night with three catches for 126 yards and a touchdowns, while Lacy picked up 106 yards on five catches.
The LSU rushing game struggled. Josh Williams only recorded 23 yards on seven carries, while Caden Durham netted 15 yards on 11 carries.
