LSU once again showed off its impressive talent in an eight to two win over Texas on Friday night to extend the Tigers winning streak to 17 games.
LSU sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson pitched like an ace on Friday night as he held the Longhorns to two runs in six innings and struck out eight to improve his record to 5-0.
Zac Cowan had another terrific outing out of the bullpen, with three scoreless innings. Cowan allowed one hit and struck out three for his first save.
The offense had 13 hits and got the lead-off man aboard in six of the nine innings and they also responded every time Texas scored, which has been a common trait of this team.
Texas grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a two-out RBI single by Jalin Flores.
LSU responded in the fourth inning with a two-run homer by Luis Hernandez.
LSU played small ball in the fifth inning to score two more runs.
Daniel Dickinson and Ethan Frey led off the inning with singles. Steven Milam bunted them over to second and third. Josh Pearson drove in Dickinson on a sacrifice Fly and Hernandez singled with two outs to score Frey.
Texas made it four to two in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Rylan Galvan.
But in the seventh inning, LSU responded with four runs, highlighted by a two-run opposite field single by Jared Jones. The inning featured another RBI bunt from Michael Braswell. He had two last weekend. And Chris Stanfield doubled down the left field line to score Hernandez.
LSU will go for the series victory tonight as they take on Texas at 6 PM. Other than Cowan, LSU will have its entire bullpen available if starting pitcher Anthony Eyanson runs into trouble.
