LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green could be nearing a return to the field. Green was not listed on the SEC’s first availability report of the week, released Wednesday night, a possible sign he could play Saturday against Auburn.

Green has missed every game since injuring his knee in week three. He had been expected to remain sidelined until LSU’s November 7th game against Alabama.

LSU has not officially confirmed whether Green will play, and his absence from the report does not guarantee he’ll be available. Coaches sometimes use injury reports for gamesmanship.

There’s more confidence that LSU’s second-leading receiver, Jackson Harris, will play. Harris left last Saturday’s game against Mississippi State with an injury, but he’s not on the availability report. He also told reporters he expects to play against Auburn.

LSU’s top pass rusher, senior defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, is also not listed. He did not return against Mississippi State after suffering an apparent head injury, but his status on the report is an encouraging sign.

The only new injury on LSU’s report is freshman defensive tackle Richard Anderson, who is listed as doubtful.

Auburn enters Saturday’s game relatively healthy, but the Tigers will be without a key defensive player. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Monday that linebacker Xavier Atkins, a former LSU player, had been dismissed from the team.

Atkins was suspended for Auburn’s historic win over Georgia last Saturday. He led Auburn’s defense last season with nine sacks and 84 tackles. This year, he recorded 37 tackles and three sacks.
