Will you be watching Joe Burrow and the Bengals tonight?

Louisiana’s adopted son, Joe Burrow, will be playing in his first prime time game tonight. The former LSU quarterback was the top overall pick in the draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, who are in Cleveland for Thursday night football against the Browns. (Coverage on WWL begins at 7pm / kick-off 7:20pm)

Burrow was born in Ohio and got to return home to begin his pro career. As a kid, did he watch the “Battle for Ohio” and aware how much it means to the fans?

“I did watch it,” Burrow replied. “I didn’t excessively watch the NFL when I was growing up, but I do know the history behind it and how Mr. Brown’s father started the Browns and started the Bengals as well. So, I know the history behind it. Excited to play in the game. Excited for my first one.”

Burrow and the Bengals game up just short in the opener. He completed 23 of 36 passes for 193 yards with no passing TDs, but had a rushing score and an interception. His assessment of his own performance?

"In my eyes, I played terrible through three-and-a-half quarters and then played up to my standards in the last drive and almost won the game," Burrow replied. "I know I'll be ready for it and I just have to keep that same mindset in the two-minute drill and bring that along for the rest of the season."
