One of the Saints key pieces along the defensive line is back at practice. D-end Marcus Davenport opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list while rehabbing a shoulder injury. He also is getting used to playing with a partially amputated pinky finger.
“Honestly, I really don’t think about it (pinky),” said Davenport. “Probably the main time I think about it is while I’m lifting weights.”
Not a practice were QB Jameis Winston, CB Marshon Lattimore, LB D'Marco Jackson, LB Zack Baun, and DT Jaleel Johnson.
Head coach Dennis Allen let us know that Winston is day-to-day with a sprained right foot and the injury is not believed to be significant. He will not play Saturday against the Houston Texans in preseason game #1.
We saw two DBs get hurt at Tuesday’s workout. Bryce Thompson’s issue appeared serious as he was carted off the field with what looked like a lower leg injury. Rookie Alontae Taylor also left the session early, but was able to walk off on his own.
