The New Orleans Pelicans have announced their roster for the 2026 Las Vegas Summer League, and it's not exactly littered with familiar names.

The 16-man lineup will be coached by new assistant God Shammgod and only one player who saw significant minutes in the 2025-'26 season in Micah Peavy. Here's how the roster breaks down (rookies listed with colleges):

  • 4: Hunter Dickinson, C
  • 9: Kobe Bufkin, G
  • 10: Jaron Pierre Jr., G, SMU
  • 12: Jordan Riley, G, East Carolina
  • 13: Josh Oduro, F/C
  • 14: Micah Peavy, F
  • 15: Markquis Nowell, G
  • 20: Jonny O'Neil, F, Santa Clara
  • 27: Solomon Washington, F, Maryland
  • 30: Dominique Daniels Jr., G, Cal Baptist
  • 31: Nate Mensah, C
  • 34: Jalon Moore, F, Oklahoma
  • 35: Malik Dia, F/C, Mississippi

  • 44: Chris Bell, F, California
The Summer League is typically a showcase for NBA rookies or early-career players either looking for continued development or to make their case for a fringe roster spot. The Pelicans have a handful of second-year players who could've potentially taken advantage of that opportunity, but we will not see high-profile names like Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears in attendance. Peavy, a second-round pick from last year, will likely have a leading role on this year's roster after appearing in 61 games during his rookie season.
Another player Pelicans fans will be eager to get eyes is Jaron Pierre Jr., the No. 58 pick and lone selection by New Orleans in the most recent draft. Pierre is a New Orleans native and St. Augustine alum who features a high-flying skillset. He features dynamic size (6-5, 210 pounds) at the guard spot and is coming off a season at SMU where he averaged 17.6 points per game.

Hunter Dickinson and Josh Oduro both appeared in games for the Pelicans last season. Jalon Moore is a former teammate of Jeremiah Fears at Oklahoma. Christian Shumate spent last season with the Birmingham Squadron (now the Laketown Squadron) and was previously with McNeese State, where he was coached by current LSU head coach Will Wade.

The Pelicans will kick off their Summer League slate on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. (central) agains the Minnesota Timberwolves. They'll play again on July 11 (3 p.m. vs Hornets); July 12 (2 p.m. vs Suns); and July 15 (4:30 p.m. vs Cavs). Based on the results of those first four games, the Pelicans could play a 5th game on July 17, 18 or 19. All games will be broadcast on the Gulf Coast Sports and Entertainment network, and will be available on either Prime, ESPN or ESPN2.
