The New Orleans Pelicans are riding a three-game win streak after a 117-110 win against the Sacramento Kings.
Despite leading by more than 20 at one-point in the game, the Pelicans found themselves in a close game late in the fourth quarter. However, New Orleans was able to hold off a late Kings run to secure the victory.
"I think we just stayed together,” Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram said. “We knew we were on the second night of a back-to-back and we knew that we were playing against a really, really good team that has some really, really good players, so it was important for us to go down and execute, rebound the basketball, just stay together and knock down the shots we needed to knock down.”
Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy credited the Kings for overcoming the halftime deficit but also said the Pelicans played poorly in the second half, particularly when it came to turnovers.
“We were just really bad in the second half,” he said. “I don’t mean to take anything away from Sacramento and what they did, but yeah. When you’re missing shots it’s fine, you get a chance to get back. But when you’re turning it over, that’s hard.”
New Orleans will have a chance to tie their longest win streak of the season Wednesday night at home against the New York Knicks.
