Pelicans guard Devonte' Graham will be facing legal issues in North Carolina, according to reports.
The 27-year-old was arrested in his native Raleigh about 3 a.m. Thursday morning in Raleigh and charged with impaired driving, according to a report from CBS17.
Graham played four years for the Kansas Jayhawks before being drafted in the second round in 2018 and played three seasons with the Hornets before being traded to the Pelicans prior to the 2021-'22 season. He appeared in 76 games a season ago, averaging just under 12 points and 4.2 assists per game.
The circumstances surrounding Graham's arrest remain unclear, but it marks the first sign of turmoil for a team that had seemingly seen nothing but positive turns in recent months, including the official announcement of a massive extension for superstar Zion Williamson just hours prior.
Graham is entering the second season of a 4-year, $47.3 million contract signed with the Pelicans shortly after he was acquired in the trade.
It's likely Graham faces some form of discipline from the NBA regarding the incident, with players in similar instances (and on their first such offense) netting suspensions between 3 and 5 games in recent seasons.
