The New Orleans Pelicans battle for playoff positioning will have to rage on without one of the team's biggest weapons.

"New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram underwent an MRI after hyperextending his left knee during the third quarter of last night’s game against the Orlando Magic. The results of the MRI revealed a left knee bone contusion," according to a release from Pelicans PR.

The team says that Ingram will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

The Pelicans have been challenging the Clippers for the 4th seed in the Western Conference with 13 games left to play in the regular season.  New Orleans is now a games and a half behind L.A.

The top four teams get home court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.

Next up for the Pelicans, the Heat in Miami tonight.

The first round of the NBA playoffs begins April 20th.

Ingram has been averaging more than 20 points per game with six assists per game.
