Zion Williamson earns 1st NBA All-Star Game selection

Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has been named to the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, which is set for March 7 in Atlanta, the league announced Tuesday.

Williamson becomes the fourth youngest player to be selected to the All-Star Game behind Bryant, James and Johnson.

Williamson is averaging 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game this season and is one of just two players in the league averaging at least 25 points on 55 percent shooting from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line, joining Denver’s Nikola Jokić.

Williamson is also averaging an NBA-best 18.8 points per gam in the paint.

He becomes the ninth player in franchise history to be named an All-Star, joining Jamal Mashburn, Baron Davis, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Paul, David West, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and Brandon Ingram.
