Zion Williamson will play Friday at Lakers, report says

The New Orleans Pelicans expect star forward Zion Williamson to play in the team’s Friday night matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers as he’s been cleared to resume team activities according to a report from ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.

Williamson was ruled out of Wednesday night’s game at the Los Angeles Clippers due to health and safety protocols. Health and safety protocols refers to the NBA’s guidelines related to COVID-19.

Lopez reports that Williamson was held out due to an inconclusive test.

The Pelicans dropped Wednesday’s contest 111-106 as they were also without starting guards Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe due to injuries.

It was the second Pelicans’ game of the season to be affected by COVID-19 protocols as the NBA cited them as the reason New Orleans’ matchup with the Dallas Mavericks, originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed.
