Three weeks remain in the LHSAA football regular season, and 16 teams enter Week 8 undefeated. At least one of those teams will suffer its first loss this week, as Jena will face Bunkie in a Central Louisiana battle. Some of those unbeatens will have an opportunity to clinch district championships this week while continuing to shore up their playoff positions.
Week 8 also features a host of rivalry games across the state. Cross-parish rivalries like Alexandria/Pineville, East Jefferson/West Jefferson, and Erath/Abbeville will be renewed, while holy wars like Teurlings/St. Thomas More and Brother Martin/Archbishop Rummel will continue their long traditions.
