3 Saints out week one, Michael Thomas status is questionable

NFL, Saints
USA Today

After missing all week of practice receiver Tre’Quan Smith (shoulder), running back Dwyane Washington (hamstring) and corner Paulson Adebo (ankle) are all out for week one against the Falcons.

Listed as questionable:

WR Michael Thomas (hamstring)

S Tyrann Mathieu (illness)

S J.T. Gray (hamstring)

T Landon Young (hip)

Thomas was limited all week, but looked like a guy ready to play during the portions of practice open to the media. The Saints offense has sure missed Can’t Guard Mike as he’s been a reliable target since getting drafted in the 2nd round:

2016: 92 catches - 1,137 yards - 9 TDs

2017: 104 catches - 1,245 yards - 5 TDs

2018: 125 catches - 1,405 yards - 9 TDs

2019: 149 catches - 1,725 yards - 9 TDs

Mathieu was a new addition to the injury report on Friday, not practicing due to an illness. Him being questionable is a positive since if it was COVID related he would already have been ruled out for the game.

Center Erick McCoy (calf) and linebacker Pete Werner (groin) were a full go Friday and do not have any game status next to their names, meaning they are ready to suit up and take the field.

Looking at Atlanta’s injury report; CB Darren Hall (quadricep) and rookie WR Drake London (knee) were limited all week and are listed as questionable for Sunday’s noon kickoff in Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Pregame coverage on WWL starts 8am Sunday with First Take.
Then, at 10am it’s the Bud light Countdown to kick off before handing things over to the Voice of the Saints Mike Hoss and color analyst Deuce McCallister’s call of the game. Who Dat!
