Denver Broncos player, staff members test positive for COVID-19

The New Orleans Saints scheduled opponent for Sunday, the Denver Broncos, had a player and two staff members test positive for COVID-19, prompting the franchise to close its practice facility Friday.

The team announced the move Friday. morning.


“Following confirmed positive COVID-19 test results from one player and two staff members, the Denver Broncos have closed UCHealth Training Center today with the team’s safety in mind,” the statement read.

“The Broncos will continue preparations for Sunday’s game remotely with virtual meetings and have postponed today’s practice. Working closely with medical experts and the league office, we will take all steps necessary to ensure the well-being of the player, coaches and staff.”

The Saints are currently set to face the Broncos in Denver at 3:05 p.m. Sunday.

The Broncos aren’t the only team to deal with a positive COVID-19 test this week. The NFL postponed a scheduled Thanksgiving Day matchup between the the Pittsburgh Steeters and Baltimore Ravens after several Ravens players tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson was among the players who’ve tested positive.
