It was only a matter of time for Cam Jordan, and he can now officially etch his name onto a major line in the Saints' all-time history books.
With his third sack of the day, Jordan passed Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson's record of 115 sacks, the most in franchise history. Jordan now was 115.5 career sacks. The Saints went on to win 20-10.
"It was one of those games that eventually you're going to find," Jordan said of the Eagles and Gardner Minshew.
Jordan said he wasn't sure whether he had set the record on the field, because it was unclear whether he was credited with the first sack on Minshew that was close to the line of scrimmage. His third came after Kaden Elliss "fell off" a sack, as Jordan put it, with the DE cleaning up for the record.
"Thank you," Jordan said to his teammate after the game.
It took Jordan 12 consistent seasons and 189 games played to surpass that mark. His most prolific season came in 2019 with 15.5 sacks, and he's had double-digit sacks in six different seasons.
Jordan was the No. 24 overall pick of the Saints in 2011, and didn't miss a game for any reason until Week 14 of the 2021 season, when he was forced to be inactive due to a positive COVID test. Jordan's ironman streak unofficially came to an end this season when he missed a Week 11 matchup with the Rams due to an eye injury, the first game missed due to injury in his career.
